Amy Duggar is disturbed by her cousin Joseph Duggar‘s ongoing legal trouble for allegedly molesting a minor during a Florida vacation some years ago.
Amy took to social media to say that she feels “emotionally exhausted” from everything that has been happening and is still trying to make sense of it.
Joseph is being held up in solitary confinement and is expected to be extradited to Florida in the coming days to face charges. His wife, Kendra, also got into trouble and would face child endangerment charges alongside him.
Amy Duggar Feels ‘Emotionally Exhausted’ Amid Joseph’s Arrest

Amy Duggar has opened up about the heavy emotional toll her cousin Joseph Duggar’s arrest is having on her.
The former reality TV star was arrested on March 18 for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old during a Florida vacation in 2020.
The victim, who is now 14, said in a statement that Joseph “eventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped,” with reports also claiming that he admitted to the crime when he was confronted by her father.
Amy can’t seem to make sense of it, as she said in a TikTok video that she never expected Joseph to be entangled in a situation such as this.
“Hey TikTok, it’s been a minute. I’ve taken a minute from videos and whatnot because I literally don’t even know what to say,” Amy said in the clip shared on Thursday, March 26. “I feel emotionally exhausted from all of this. It’s not about me, I know it’s not … but my heart hurts. I know I’m not the only one.”
“Joe was the last person that I expected,” she continued. “We’re all wanting answers right now. … He’s behind bars tonight. I cannot comprehend that.”
Amy Duggar Previously Condemned Her Cousin’s Alleged Actions
Prior to Amy’s recent remarks about Joseph, she had already condemned her cousin for allegedly molesting a minor, noting that she was “shocked” but not “surprised.”
“In light of the recent allegations involving my cousin, Joseph Duggar, I am sickened, heartbroken, and deeply angry,” she said in a statement.
“My first thoughts are with the victim, a child who deserved to be safe, protected, and surrounded by people she could trust,” she continued. “The courage it took for her to come forward, especially after years of carrying something so heavy, cannot be overstated. That bravery deserves to be honored above all else.”
Joseph Duggar’s Wife Was Also Taken Into Custody
Things took a left turn on March 20 when his wife, Kendra, was also taken into custody, but was released that day after posting a bond of $1,470.
Together, they face charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and 4 counts of second-degree false imprisonment. They could get prison sentences of up to 8 years and thousands in fines if convicted on all counts.
On his own, Joseph, who’s being held at Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas, has been charged with one count of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and a second count of lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.
According to People Magazine, a spokesperson for the family explained that the charges filed against Kendra are “totally unrelated” to those her husband is expected to face in Florida, adding that she’s “not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime.”
Joseph Duggar’s Call Logs Revealed He Has Been Talking To Kendra
Joseph’s jail call logs show that he has called his wife multiple times from his prison cell and also shared fresh insights about his jail time with her.
Reports suggest he has only seen his attorney while in jail and has been staying in solitary confinement.
In a call with Kendra, he told her that he has “been spending a lot of time reading the Bible” as they got him one in jail, before adding that he’s “in solitary” and that he’s spending “23 hours of the day” in “an 8-by-10 area” at the facility.
“Pretty small area, but I’ve been able to read a lot actually, and resting some, but I’m not sleeping great through the night,” Joseph added.
Joseph Duggar Could Get A Life In Prison Sentence
Kendra is back in court on April 29, while Joseph appeared in a virtual court session last week and waived his rights to an extradition hearing.
While he waits to be extradited to Bay County, Florida, to face charges for the alleged crime, experts have suggested he could get life imprisonment if found guilty.
Family law specialist and senior attorney, Rachael Bennett, weighed in on his legal trouble alongside Kendra and said if Joseph is convicted in Florida, he could face life imprisonment.
“He’s currently waiting to be transferred from Arkansas to Florida, and he’ll be facing trial on child molestation charges in Florida,” Bennett told Us Weekly. “He’s also been charged with the same child endangerment crimes as Kendra [Duggar] related to the home inspection, but those are, I would say, considered secondary.”
The expert added, “If he’s convicted in Florida, these specific charges could result in a life in prison sentence, and if a life sentence isn’t given, Florida law requires what’s called a ‘split sentence,’ which requires a minimum of 25 years in prison followed by lifetime probation.”
