Maycee Barber’s team gives health update after scary UFC Seattle loss
Maycee Barber is in good health despite some scary scenes in her UFC Fight Night 271 loss to Alexa Grasso.

Barber (15-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) got the worst of it on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle when, in her long-awaited rematch with Grasso (17-5-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC), was brutally dropped in the opening minutes before being choked in a highlight-reel sequence.

The result put a screeching halt to Barber’s push for a women’s flyweight title shot, and she laid motionless in the center of the octagon for a prolonged period after the fight was stopped. Barber ultimately got up and left the octagon under her own power, but there was natural concern about her medical status.
According to her team, Barber is doing just fine. “The Future” shared multiple Instagram Stories from coaches and teammates on her feed confirming she’s in good health and already thinking about getting back in the cage.

Barber, 27, saw her seven-fight winning streak come to an end at UFC Fight Night 271. She hadn’t suffered a defeat since her first encounter with Grasso at UFC 258 in February 2021, and she is now 0-2 against the former titleholder.
Maycee Barber, two others, transported to the hospital following ultra violent UFC Seattle bloodbath
Following UFC Seattle last night (Sat., March 28, 2026) inside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, promotion officials confirmed to MMAmania.com that three fighters were transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons after sustaining significant damage in their respective bouts.
The fighters were Maycee Barber, Ignacio Bahamondes, and Ricky Simon.
Barber (15-3) was transported for precautionary CT scans of her head and face following a brutal stoppage loss to Alexa Grasso. The sequence saw Barber knocked out and quickly submitted, literally seconds later, leaving her unconscious on the canvas for several seconds.
The loss snaps Barber’s impressive seven-fight win streak — which included victories over Katlyn Cerminara, Amanda Ribas, and Karine Silva — and likely halts her momentum in the title picture. She now falls to 0-2 against Grasso.
Bahamondes (17-7) was also taken to the hospital for precautionary scans following a three-round war with Tofiq Musayev. Despite losing a unanimous decision, the bout earned “Fight of the Night” honors.
The 28-year-old Chilean has now dropped back-to-back fights for the first time in his career — both coming against fighters from Azerbaijan. Prior to that stretch, Bahamondes had scored three straight first-round finishes over Jalin Turner (watch highlights), Manuel Torres, and Christos Giagos.
Finally, Simon (22-7-1) was also transported for precautionary CT scans after a grueling three-round battle with Adrian Yanez, which ended in a controversial draw.
Prior to that result, Simon went 2-1 in 2025, including a highlight-reel knockout win at the previous UFC Seattle event (watch highlights) after enduring a three-fight skid between 2023 and 2024.
At this time, the results of both fighters’ scans have not been disclosed.
It is normal for UFC to transport fighters to the hospital for precautionary reasons, especially if the fighters are involved in three-round battles that are full of damage or after suffering nasty knockouts.
