Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for President Donald Trump to be removed from office under the Twenty-fifth Amendment.
The controversy began afterย Trumpย posted on social media, writing: โA whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I donโt want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Changeโฆ maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?,โ according toย VT.
He reportedly went on to describe the moment as potentially โone of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World.โ
The post came after Donald Trump warned thatย Iranย โcould be taken out in one night,โ adding: โAnd that night could be tomorrow night.โ
He also suggested that if Iran donโt meet his demands, the country could be pushed back to the โStone Ages,โ stating: โTheyโre going to have no bridgesโฆ Theyโre going to have no power plants.โ
โThis is evil and madnessโ
The scale of destruction described in his remarks has drawn sharp criticism, with some critics raising the possibility of invoking the Twenty-fifth Amendment, a rarely used constitutional provision that allows a president to be removed from office under certain circumstances.
Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene responded to Trumps comment, writing: โ25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.โ
Trump announces ceasefire with Iran
The situation continues to raise serious questions about U.S. military strategy, presidential authority, and the potential global consequences of escalating tensions with Iran.
Following the comment, however, the U.S. and Iran agreed to a temporary, conditional ceasefire lasting two weeks, according to theย BBC. After mediating negotiations, Pakistanโs Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced early Wednesday that the ceasefire was in effect immediately.
During this time, shipping traffic can move through the Strait of Hormuz, coordinated by the Iranian military. Trump reportedly said he would โsuspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeksโ if Tehran agrees to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. On Truth Social, he said he made the decision because โwe have already met and exceeded all military objectives.โ
