Haunting audio has been released following the fatal shooting of a woman alleged to have kidnapped a child and attacked him with a knife outside a Walmart.

Shocking reports yesterday detailed how 31-year-old Noemi Guzman shoplifted the weapon from a Walmart in Omaha, Nebraska before targeting a three-year-old boy and his guardian inside the store.

Security footage published by the Omaha Police Department shows the suspect forcing the three-year-old’s guardian to walk ahead of a cart while the child is sitting in it.

Guzman is then seen leading them out into the parking lot, with Deputy Chief Scott Gray revealing at a later press conference that she “took possession of the child, essentially kidnapping the child.”

Officers were called to the scene, where they confronted Guzman, ordering her to drop the knife after she brandished it.

“Ms. Guzman was making multiple threats with the knife. Officers gave multiple verbal commands for Ms. Guzman to drop the knife. She refused to drop the weapon and cut the boy,” the police explained.

“The two patrol officers fired their service weapons striking Ms. Guzman. The child’s guardian, along with a bystander, immediately removed the child from the cart and rendered aid to him. Officers began lifesaving measures on Ms. Guzman; however, she was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The woman who made the 911 call to the police has since been identified as Becky Bissell. She told KETV that she was leaving Walmart when the child’s guardian approached her.

Bissell admitted to fearing she was about to be robbed, before realizing that the woman was crying. She immediately called the police.

“After I called police, I could hear the suspect yelling at the victim. And the victim said, ‘She wants your phone.’ And then she said, ‘She’s cutting my son,’” Bissell said. “He looked very scared.”

Bissell also explained that the caretaker told her she had been approached by Guzman in the store, and that Guzman had asked for her phone. The suspect then revealed the knife and seized the three-year-old boy.

Following the police shooting, the child’s guardian, together with a bystander, removed the child from the cart and began administering first aid for the wounds he had sustained from the knife. Officers attempted lifesaving measures on Guzman, who was ultimately declared dead at the scene.

The boy was reportedly rushed to hospital, where he was treated for a large laceration on the left side of his face and his hand. His injuries have been described as non life-threatening.
