Cameron Diaz, 53, and her husband Benji Madden, 47, have welcomed their third child – and they’re now sharing the unique name they’ve chosen.
Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden became parents in 2019 when they welcomed their daughter, Raddix. Five years later, their son Cardinal arrived — and now the couple has welcomed their third child in a surprise announcement shared on social media.
After becoming a mother at 47, Diaz stepped back from her career and later explained the decision in an interview with Hello Magazine.
“It felt like the right thing for me to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have. I think it really comes to what are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family,” she said, according to Parenting Patch.
Cameron Diaz – children, husband, family
Diaz has spoken openly about becoming a mother later in life. Appearing on Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series No Filter, she reflected on how her path differs from many others.
“A lot of people do it the other way around… they get married [and] have a family in their youth,” she said, according to Motherly. “I’m kind of doing it in the second half of my life.”
She added: “The only pressure for me now is I have to live to be, like, 107, you know? No pressure!”
“Having a family when you’re young…it’s like anything when you’re young: You do it. But when you’re my age and you decide to do it, it’s a real choice. You really have to work hard for it.”
“We love life with our family”
Now, at 53, Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have announced that their family has grown once again – while also revealing the unique name they’ve chosen.
“Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world Son!!,” Benji wrote in a post on Instagram.
“We love life with our family – our kids are healthy & happy, and we are grateful!!! having a blast.”
The name is believed to have Latin origins and is commonly interpreted to mean “sailor, navigator, voyager – one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown,” according to the Instagram post.
