THUNDERSTORM ARTIS
Born into a musical family of 11 children on the North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii, Thunderstorm was raised in an artistic environment from a young age. His father, Ron Artis, was a musician who participated in famous recordings such as Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, while his mother, Victoria, was a backup singer for many famous artists. Thunderstorm began playing drums at age 9 and later learned piano, guitar, and harmonica.
Before joining American Idol, Thunderstorm was the runner-up on The Voice season 18 in 2020, where he impressed with his soulful vocals and heartfelt performance style. He has performed with artists such as Jack Johnson, Train, and Zac Brown Band, and has released many original songs that showcase his diverse songwriting abilities.
Currently, Thunderstorm lives in Nashville with his wife, Faith, and two sons. He shares that bringing his family to his shows helps him stay inspired and connect more deeply with his music.
