Anne Burrell’s cold body was reportedly found on the shower floor by her husband hours after he had last seen her alive.
The Food Network star’s husband, Stuart Claxton, found Burrell unconscious in the bathroom early on the morning of Tuesday, June 17, law enforcement sources told TMZ on Wednesday.
Claxton had last seen his celebrity chef wife alive around 1 a.m., and he reportedly discovered her “between six and seven hours later.”
After calling 911, Claxton was allegedly advised to begin performing CPR on Burrell. She was pronounced dead at the scene once emergency services arrived at around 7:50 a.m.
Burrell’s loved ones announced her shocking passing on Tuesday. She was 55.
“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother and friend – her smile lit up every room she entered,” they said in a statement.
“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world,” her family added. “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit and boundless love remain eternal.”
The New York City Police Department later confirmed that Burrell was found “unconscious and unresponsive” at her Brooklyn home on Tuesday morning and pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department also told Page Six that a 911 caller claimed Burrell suffered a “cardiac arrest” and she was “DOA [dead on arrival].”
