As the song says ‘you’re gonna be talked about’, so this country star is giving everyone a conversation topic.

Miranda Lambert has hardly laid low, nor should she have, since the split from her husband Blake Shelton.

So it can come as little surprise that on Tuesday night, the 31-year-old picked a once very controversial song about divorce to show things have not changed all that much.

Miranda was there to honor the envelope pushing country icon and did so with the 1973 track which was considered so scandalous at the time many country DJs would not play it.

The song encourages women to divorce but be prepared for the unfair judgments of others and to stand strong despite these.

While its subject matter might not be so controversial these days, clearly its lyrics still resonated with Miranda – who split from husband Blake in July.

The song’s lyrics include: ‘Well if you’ve been a married woman and things didn’t seem to work out/ Divorce is the key to bein’ loose and free so you’re gonna be talked about/ Everybody knows that you’ve loved once so they think you’ll love again.’

It continues: ‘You can’t have a male friend when you’re a has been of a woman you’re rated X/ And if you’re rated X you’re some kind of goal every man might try to make/ But I think it’s wrong to judge every picture if a cheap camera makes a mistake.’

The blonde beauty belted out the track on the ACM stage in front of Loretta herself ahead of presenting the 83-year-old with the Crystal Milestone Award to mark her five decade-long career.

The star thanked the country icon for provided fight songs from strong women.

According to ABC, Miranda said as she gave Loretta her award: ‘She sang songs that were not necessarily appropriate to sing at times like this for me. So, I’m so thankful for women empowerment.’

Accepting her award the 83-year-old spoke of the song that once got tongues wagging so much.

Loretta said: ‘That was one that I sang and a lot of the disc jockeys banned because they thought it was going to be really bad.

‘And as they listened to it, they thought, ”Hey, This is not as a bad as I thought it was.” So it was a big record for me.’

While no doubt it has been a tough few months for Miranda, the Automatic singer looked happy and singledom is certainly suiting her.

It is no wonder Miranda found the track so empowering as the Grammy-Award winning artist recently faced plenty of negative publicity due to her split after four years of marriage to Blake, with reports claiming that she didn’t want to start a family as soon as he did.

The couple’s official joint separation statement read: ‘This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately.’

It continued: ‘Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.’

Romance rumors of a cheating escapade with Chris Young were also first sparked in February 2015 as they were spotted getting close at a Nashville bar.

Chris later said the pair was just friends.

Perhaps fittingly another line in X Rated is: ‘You can’t have a male friend when you’re a has been of a woman you’re rated X/ And if you’re rated X you’re some kind of goal every man might try to make.’
