Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been one of country music’s most beloved couples since they started dating in 2015. But despite their strong bond and high-profile romance, there’s one place where you’re unlikely to ever catch a glimpse of the duo: the beach.
During a recent appearance on the CMT Hot 20 Countdown, Shelton was asked whether he frequents the beach. True to his signature dry humor, the country star delivered an answer that had fans chuckling.
“Nope,” Blake said, shaking his head. “My legs — they’re not just white, they’re like translucent.” Without cracking a smile, he explained, “That’s how long it’s been since they’ve been exposed.”
Indeed, Shelton’s famously pale legs have become somewhat of a running joke. The Oklahoma native owns property far from the sandy shores, and while he sometimes spends time in Los Angeles—where Stefani lived full-time when they met—he steadfastly avoids the beach.
In fact, Shelton’s aversion to showing his legs goes beyond the sand. He’s rarely seen in shorts at all. Whether on television or tending to his farm back home, Blake is almost always clad in his trademark jeans and cowboy boots. Over time, this look has become so ingrained that fans almost expect him to be in denim whenever they see him.
But the beach isn’t the only place the power couple avoids. In a candid chat with Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul, Shelton revealed that he and Gwen steer clear of Starbucks. “Their coffee is too powerful,” he joked, adding that they much prefer their homemade brew.
So, while Blake and Gwen might be inseparable in love and music, they definitely keep their personal routines—and their coffee—comfortably low-key. And for Blake Shelton, that means keeping his legendary translucent legs far away from the sun and sand.
