GH’s Jason and Tracy Mourning Monica Together Was The Perfect Beginning To Tribute
Monica’s passing gave General Hospital fans some heartbreaking Tracy and Jason scenes.

General Hospital has begun the tribute to Leslie Charleson with Monica’s passing. The ABC soap kicked it off perfectly by having Jason find Monica and immediately tell Tracy she was gone.
So Much Love and History On Display
Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Jason (Steve Burton) each had a rocky relationship with Monica (Charleson) for decades. Monica and Tracy had some of the most epic battles that were oh so entertaining, especially over the house.
Jason losing his Quartermaine memories and working with Sonny (Maurice Benard) changed the dynamic of his relationship with Monica. In fact, it took them years to even have a relationship.
It took time, but eventually, Tracy and Jason both found a way to have a meaningful relationship with Monica. That turbulent history is one reason why having the two of them deal with Monica’s passing alone was the right choice.
Another reason is that Jason and Tracy are essentially the heads of the Quartermaine family now.
Tracy is the lone matriarch now that Monica, her parents, and Alan (Stuart Damon) are gone. Jason is not only the former Quartermaine golden boy but also Alan’s son, making him kind of the patriarch.
Watching Tracy and Jason form a bond since his return has been refreshing and helps keep the Quartermaine legacy alive. All of this is why those two mourning Monica alone was the best decision as GH begins its goodbye to a legend.
GH fans also agree this was the right move by the ABC soap. One fan on X wrote, “Having only Tracy and Jason reveal Monica’s passing was a very VERY smart choice!”
A different fan shared, “I think one of the wonderful nuances of having Tracy and Jason share the initial moments after Monica’s passing is that Jane and Steve had the longest standing relationships with Leslie.”
Burton spoke about the storyline on his podcast, That’s Awesome with Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), admitting the writers made the appropriate choice regarding Monica’s passing.
“I am glad it was me. I think that’s, I guess, appropriate. It could have been Tracy also,” he expressed, “If you are thinking about other people, where the meaning would be there, I guess it would be Tracy or Jason. We’re kind of the last of the Quartermaines.”
This is just the beginning of General Hospital honoring the legacy of Monica and Charleson, so grab those tissues because it’s going to get even more emotional.
