HE JUST HIT A HOME RUN ON THE STAGE. American Idol Season 24 just kicked off in Nashville, and before Jayson Arendt even sang a note, the room was already a spectacle. The 24-year-old stepped in not as a typical hopeful, but as a member of the Texas Tailgaters—the professional “Banana Ball” league that’s turned baseball into a viral sensation. His entrance was loud, playful, and filled with the kind of high-energy dancing that had Luke Bryan jumping out of his seat to join in. For a moment, it felt like just another fun audition. But then, the music slowed down. The second Jayson began his soulful cover of Chris Stapleton’s “Fire Away,” the room went cold. The entertainment-first athlete vanished. In his place stood a man with a raw, steady country voice that left the judges visibly stunned. Lionel Richie called it “distinguishable” and “unlike anything else” they’d heard this season. Carrie Underwood, while hesitant at first about his “fun” persona, couldn’t deny the power in his delivery. What happened next proves that Jayson Arendt isn’t just here to put on a show. He’s here to prove that behind the jerseys and the “Cotton Eyed Joe” line dancing, there is a heart made for the spotlight. He walked out with a Golden Ticket, but he left behind one of the most talked-about premieres in the show’s history. Is Jayson the entertainer American Idol has been waiting for, or will the “serious” side of the competition be his toughest game yet? Watch video below 👇

Jayson Arendt, an entertainment baseball player with the Banana Ball League, earned three yesses with his American Idol audition.

Season 24 of American Idol is officially underway! The first stop of this season’s auditions was Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville.

The two-hour premiere episode featured auditions from 18 hopefuls as well as surprise guest appearances. Country star Brad Paisley showed up to help Luke Bryan pull off an epic prank on Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. And last season’s finalist Breanna Nix accompanied 15-year-old Tate Emmons to his audition.

As fans have come to expect, the audition showcased talent from every imaginable genre and musical style. It also brought out some memorable personalities and stories.

Schedule

Among those was Jayson Arendt, a singer-turned-baseball player. Arendt has amassed an impressive social media following thanks to his involvement with the Texas Tailgaters, a Banana Ball League team.

Several of his Texas Tailgaters teammates joined him for his audition and brought their energy to the room with a rowdy line dance. Luke Bryan hopped in to show off his dance moves before Arendt sang.

Jayson Arendt delivered a performance of Chris Stapleton’s “Fire Away.”

The 24-year-old North Carolina native accompanied himself on guitar for the soulful cover of the Chris Stapleton hit as his teammates cheered him on.

Lionel Richie was the first to address the singer and told him he has a nice, distinctive voice, something they didn’t have yet this season.

Carrie Underwood was a little more hesitant to approve Arendt, saying that she would like to see him take “this part” of himself and take it more seriously. “You guys are obviously so much fun. I love it, and I want to feel you emote. I want to hear more.”

Ultimately, all three judges agreed and sent the baseball player through with a Golden Ticket.

MADE OF AMERICA 🇺🇸❤️ Budweiser just did what only Budweiser knows how to do — and reminded everyone why its Super Bowl ads still own American emotion. From the first notes of “Free Bird,” the tone is set. Sweeping landscapes. Iconic Clydesdales. A quiet sense of pride that builds without shouting. It doesn’t rush. It lets the feeling settle — and then it hits. Fans are already calling it one of the brand’s most powerful commercials ever, not because it tries to say something… but because it shows it. Every image adds another layer of meaning, another pulse of nostalgia, resilience, and identity. And then comes the final moment. No words. No explanation. Just a single image that feels heavy in the best way — the kind that makes people rewind, sit still, and feel something they didn’t expect. People aren’t just watching this ad. They’re replaying it. “For just a few seconds… everything felt still.” As the Budweiser ad unfolded, no one was prepared for the moment that made the entire room go quiet. A tiny bald eagle chick — shaky, vulnerable — stepped onto the broad back of a Clydesdale and didn’t pull away. No explanation followed. No music swelled to tell you what it meant. Just a fragile choice… met with absolute calm. For a heartbeat, the world seemed to pause. Viewers felt it before they understood it — a strange mix of tenderness, trust, and something almost forgotten. Social feeds lit up not with praise, but with one question: Why did this moment feel so powerful?
