Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt post honoring actress and comedian Catherine O’Hara, who died on Friday (January 30). She was 71.
“Sending my thoughts to Catherine O’Hara’s family and friends today. I never had the privilege of working with her, but what a great talent. I loved her work so much that I wanted to dress up as her character from Beetlejuice a couple years ago. ,” McEntire wrote in her Instagram caption as she shared side-by-side photos of herself and O’Hara.
McEntire dressed as Delia Deetz, O’Hara’s iconic Beetlejuice character, for Halloween in 2024. The country star’s fiancé, Rex Linn, dressed in Danny DeVito’s look as the janitor. McEntire and Linn appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in their costumes, matching host Kelly Clarkson’s eye-popping Beetlejuice transformation.

O’Hara starred in the 1988 Tim Burton film — and the 2024 sequel — with Michael Keaton as the title character. Keaton said in a tribute of his own that he and O’Hara “go back before the first Beetlejuice. She’s been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend. This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her. Thinking about Beau as well.”
Other co-stars O’Hara worked with over the years, including Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, mourned the loss of the late legendary actress. Culkin, now 45, wrote a tribute to his “mama.” He said, “I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later.”
O’Hara is survived by her husband of more than three decades, Bo Welch, and her sons, Matthew and Luke.
