Two of Team USA’s brightest stars gave fans a moment they won’t soon forget.

At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Malinin entered as the favorite in men’s singles. A two-time World Champion and the first skater to land a fully rotated quadruple Axel in international competition, according to the International Skating Union, he had already pushed the sport’s technical limits.

But Milan did not follow expectations. Malinin finished eighth in the individual event, a surprising result for the gold-medal favorite. Still, he delivered key performances that helped Team USA capture gold in the Olympic team figure skating competition.

Afterward, he spoke openly about the pressure.

Voting remains open until March 5, with the winner set to be announced April 7 at the New York Athletic Club.
