Carrie Underwood Previously Told Fans That She Got Booed A Lot This Season On American Idol
While teasing some future episodes, American Idol judge Carrie Underwood tweeted, âSpoiler alertâŠI get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience.â
The âBefore He Cheatsâ singer tagged the show in her post and included a flushed-faced emoji.
At the time, fans speculated about why she was booed, especially because we had only seen a preview for Hollywood Week. Some thought it was because of her political beliefs, which, by the way, she has not publicly discussed. Her singing at President Trumpâs inauguration was enough for people to jump to their own conclusions about her beliefs.
A few reactions included, âIâve been booing you since the inauguration,â adding, âAnd itâs still not loud enough.â
But it turns out, she was booed for her feedback after contestants performed during Hollywood Week.
What Did Carrie Underwood Say To Be Booed?
One of the biggest times she was booed was after Mor Ildertonâs performance, where he sang an original song. Before she gave her feedback, she told the crowd, âYou guys are gonna boo me. Youâre gonna boo me. Itâs coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.â
The âJesus, Take The Wheelâ singer told Mor he should have sung a cover instead of an original song.
Underwood reiterated on X, âSinging original music is SUCH a gamble at this stage in the competition. Donât. Waste. The. Band. Morâs voice and previous audition kept him in. I wanna hear his original music after heâs a big star!â
Mor did not make the Top 30, so Underwood and her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, felt strongly enough to cut him from the competition.
Throughout the episode, she was booed for telling a contestant that she didnât think they chose the right song and for saying another singer had a âmix of good notes and bad notesâ in their performance.
While live tweeting the episode, Underwood said, âBoo me, I donât care.â
See Carrieâs Reaction To Being Booed
After one of the more brutal rounds of her being booed, the judge asked Bryan, âWhy donât they boo you?â
He replied, âI donât know, Iâm trying to get booed,â showing her some sympathy.
She then asked the audience, âYouâre not gonna bo him?!â
The camera panned to the audience, who continued to boo her and give her a thumbs-down! Luckily, she took it all in jest and was all smiles afterward.
