The victim, who is now 14, said in a statement that Joseph \u201ceventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped,\u201d with reports also claiming that he admitted to the crime when he was confronted by her father.<\/p>\n

Joseph Duggar\u2019s Wife Was Also Taken Into Custody<\/h2>\n

Things took a left turn on March 20 when his wife, Kendra, was also taken into custody, but was released that day after posting a bond of $1,470.<\/p>\n

Together, they face charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and 4 counts of second-degree false imprisonment. They could get prison sentences of up to 8 years and thousands in fines if convicted on all counts.<\/p>\n

On his own, Joseph, who\u2019s being held at Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas, has been charged with one count of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and a second count of lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0People Magazine<\/em>, a spokesperson for the family explained that the charges filed against Kendra are \u201ctotally unrelated\u201d to those her husband is expected to face in Florida, adding that she\u2019s \u201cnot suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reports suggest he has only seen his attorney while in jail and has been staying in solitary confinement.<\/p>\n

In a call with Kendra, he told her that he has \u201cbeen spending a lot of time reading the Bible\u201d as they got him one in jail, before adding that he\u2019s \u201cin solitary\u201d and that he\u2019s spending \u201c23 hours of the day\u201d in \u201can 8-by-10 area\u201d at the facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty small area, but I\u2019ve been able to read a lot actually, and resting some, but I\u2019m not sleeping great through the night,\u201d Joseph added.<\/p>\n

Joseph Duggar Could Get A Life In Prison Sentence<\/h2>\n

Kendra is back in court on April 29, while Joseph appeared in a virtual court session last week and waived his rights to an extradition hearing.<\/p>\n

While he waits to be extradited to Bay County, Florida, to face charges for the alleged crime, experts have suggested he could get life imprisonment if found guilty.<\/p>\n

Family law specialist and senior attorney, Rachael Bennett, weighed in on his legal trouble alongside Kendra and said if Joseph is convicted in Florida, he could face life imprisonment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s currently waiting to be transferred from Arkansas to Florida, and he\u2019ll be facing trial on child molestation charges in Florida,\u201d Bennett told\u00a0Us Weekly.<\/em>\u00a0\u201cHe\u2019s also been charged with the same child endangerment crimes as Kendra [Duggar] related to the home inspection, but those are, I would say, considered secondary.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expert added, \u201cIf he\u2019s convicted in Florida, these specific charges could result in a life in prison sentence, and if a life sentence isn\u2019t given, Florida law requires what\u2019s called a \u2018split sentence,\u2019 which requires a minimum of 25 years in prison followed by lifetime probation.\u201d<\/p>\n
