The French ice dancers followed up their Olympic gold with a world title. Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier repeated their silver result from a year ago, while Worlds debutants Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik of the USA took a maiden bronze to wrap up a breakout season.<\/p>\n

Olympic champions, European champions, now world champions.<\/p>\n

The introductions of\u00a0Laurence Fournier Beaudry<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Guillaume Cizeron<\/strong>\u00a0are getting longer after each competition \u2013 and it is only their first season of competing together.<\/p>\n

One year on from\u00a0the announcement in March 2025 that they were teaming up, the French ice dance duo have completed a unique triple of Olympic, world, and European titles in a single season with victory at the\u00a02026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships,<\/strong>\u00a0becoming\u00a0the fourth team in\u00a0figure skating\u00a0history to have accomplished the feat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lived it very well, it was a\u00a0very beautiful moment<\/strong>, I think it is one of the moments we hope to experience in a skating career,\u201d Cizeron said. \u201cHaving a full stadium like that, you feel their energy, you feel the moment slipping a bit through your fingers, I think we\u2019re trying to have enough clarity in the moment to take advantage of it. I think we really did it tonight. We were a bit more relaxed than usual. I think it unbound us a lot. We had a lot of fun dancing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The French team had a 6.29-point lead over the Canadians\u00a0Piper Gilles<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Poirier<\/strong>\u00a0going into the free skate on Saturday (28 March) in Prague,\u00a0Czechia, after scoring a\u00a0personal best in the rhythm dance, but left nothing to chance with a dazzling performance of their\u00a0\u201cThe Whale\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0finale. All their elements earned\u00a0high grades of execution, from 2.25 to 4.80 for a particularly impressive curve lift.<\/p>\n

As they finished their skate, Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron embraced and paused on\u00a0the ice to soak in the moment, the O2 Arena erupting in cheers around them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were very\u00a0grateful for what we had just experienced<\/strong>, for the season we had,\u201d Fournier Beaudry said. \u201cIt was the realisation of everything we did together, the journey we have made since last January. It is a great moment of relaxation and appreciation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that having left the stage for a short time, you know\u00a0how precious these moments are<\/strong>,\u201d Cizeron, who retired after winning gold at\u00a0Beijing 2022<\/strong>, added. \u201cThese are moments that I particularly like, the moment when you have just finished and you can just take this mental image that goes by so quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The performance earned them\u00a0138.07<\/strong>\u00a0points \u2013 improving on the personal best they set at\u00a0Milano Cortina 2026<\/strong>\u00a0by 2.43 points and bumping their total to\u00a0230.81<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With this golden result, Fournier Beaudry and Cizeron join an elite list of skaters to complete the treble in one season.\u00a0Marina Klimova<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sergey Ponomarenko<\/strong>\u00a0were the last ice dancers to complete the feat, competing for the Unified Team in 1992. The other two teams were USSR\u2019s\u00a0Natalya Bestemyanova<\/strong>\/Andrey Bukin<\/strong>\u00a0in 1988, and Great Britain\u2019s\u00a0Jayne Torvill<\/strong>\/Christopher Dean<\/strong>\u00a0in 1984.<\/p>\n
