Fans are worried after it was discovered that \u201cQuad God\u201d Ilia Malinin shared videos on TikTok that contained offensive content.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The 21-year-old had a good chance of winning the gold medal in the men\u2019s singles skating competition on Friday night, but he ended up finishing in eighth place after falling twice.<\/p>\n

Speaking to NBC afterwards, Malinin was direct about his performance, stating simply, \u201cI blew it.\u201d From beginning to end, it was evident that he struggled with his mentality.<\/p>\n

Afterward, Malinin\u00a0reposted several TikToks, including one with the message, \u201cSometimes I wish something bad would just happen to me so I don\u2019t have to do it myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another video had the message, \u201cYour little boy is tired mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Malinin also shared posts from \u201cHealing Letters,\u201d an account that writes messages in a book. One said, \u201cWhen I get home and step into my room and my eyes start watering because no one knows how hard I\u2019m truly trying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another one said, \u201cNothing hurts more than trying your best and still not being good enough,\u201d and the book was slammed shut.<\/p>\n

U.S. Figure Skating did not immediately respond to a request for comment after fans showed concern and support throughout the comments.<\/p>\n

Malinin admitted\u00a0his mind was pretty cluttered\u00a0as he took the ice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just had so many thoughts and memories flood right before I got into my starting pose, and almost, I think, it maybe overwhelmed me a little bit. I\u2019ve been through a lot in my life, a lot of bad and good experiences,\u201d Malinin told reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I just feel like it\u2019s the pressure of especially being that Olympic gold medal hopeful. It was just something I can\u2019t control now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pressure of the Olympics, it\u2019s really something different, and I think not a lot of people understand that. They only understand that from the inside and going into this competition, especially today, I felt really confident, really good,\u201d he added. \u201cBut it really just went by so fast I did not have time to process.\u201d<\/p>\n

When his routine started Friday, Malinin connected on a quad flip to start but then settled for a single axel. He then had a double loop instead of a quad loop. He fell on a quad Lutz attempt and then fell on another jump shortly after. He scored 156.33 points, a far cry from the world record of 238.24 he set in December and the 200-point mark he routinely hits in the free skate.<\/p>\n

Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan won the gold with a total score of 291.58, a personal best. His score of 198.94 in Friday\u2019s free skate was also the highest of his career. Yuma Kagiyama of\u00a0Japan\u00a0got the silver, and Shun Sato, Kagiyama\u2019s teammate, came away with the bronze.<\/p>\n
