The day after the horrific Orlando nightclub shooting in 2016, Adam Lambert and Queen gave a moving performance at the Isle of Wight festival.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s usually a strong performance when Adam Lambert and Queen take the stage.<\/p>\n

As the opening chords to the 1986 power ballad\u00a0\u2018Who Wants to Live Forever\u2019\u00a0echoed across a hushed audience at the Isle of Wight in 2016, the incredible song was even more poignant that evening.<\/p>\n

The night before, 49 people were killed and 53 wounded in a mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0Smooth Virtual Coffee Break\u00a0with\u00a0Jenni Falconer, Lambert described how hearing the news the next morning made him feel \u201creally awful\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up that morning to the news and just feeling really awful about it, and knowing that that could have been me or any one of my friends,\u201d he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0American singer\u00a0revealed the spontaneous decision the group made on the night after the tragic incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, sort of in the spur of the moment, when we got to that song, I dedicated the meaning of the song to those people that lost their lives,\u201d\u00a0Lambert\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it took on this very poignant sort of energy in that moment. It was one of those nights where the song just sort of captured that feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt was powerful, I think.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alongside Lambert\u2019s extraordinary vocals,\u00a0Brian May\u00a0and\u00a0Roger Taylor\u00a0gave the festival a spine-tingling performance of the\u00a0Queen classic.<\/p>\n
