ICONIC TV dermatologist Sandra Lee was rushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke on set, the star has revealed.<\/p>\n

Better known as Dr. Pimple Popper, Lee has broken her silence on the terrifying health crisis.<\/p>\n

The TV personality, who has led the cult-favorite reality show since 2018, said the stroke happened in November while she was attending to patients during filming for her Lifetime show Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt happened while I was filming the show,\u201d Sandra told People.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had what I thought was a hot flash. I got super sweaty and didn\u2019t feel like myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

After filming, she headed to her parents\u2019 house.<\/p>\n

There, her problems persisted \u2013 she felt a shooting pain in her leg and had a tough time walking down the stairs.<\/p>\n

She noticed the symptoms were primarily affecting her left side.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would hold my hand out, and it would just slowly collapse,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI noticed that I had a tough time articulating and just enunciating. I thought, \u2018Am I having a stroke?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandra\u2019s dad, also a dermatologist, urged her to go to the emergency room.<\/p>\n

She underwent an MRI and learned that she had suffered from an ischemic stroke.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat essentially happened is I had a part of my brain that died,\u201d Sandra said.<\/p>\n

After the incident, Sandra paused all filming for two months and went into recovery.<\/p>\n

The show has been airing for 8 seasons since 2018 and this is the first known production hiatus the series has had to take.<\/p>\n

She underwent physical therapy for \u201cvery basic things,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like that I don\u2019t have total control of my left hand or the grip wasn\u2019t as strong,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I feel like I\u2019m not at my best\u2014it\u2019s very scary.\u201d<\/p>\n

She resumed filming in January, but worried about performing more intricate surgeries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of PTSD because it happened while I was filming the show,\u201d Sandra said.<\/p>\n

The dermatologist added that thanks to support from her staff, she was able to manage her caseload as the symptoms resolved themselves.<\/p>\n

She said she\u2019s opening up about her health scare to ease the stigma around strokes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Asian cultures in particular they don\u2019t tell people they\u2019ve had a stroke because it can be seen as a sign of weakness,\u201d Sandra said.<\/p>\n
