Dr.\u00a0Sandra Lee<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 AKA Dr. Pimple Popper \u2013 has revealed that she suffered a terrifying stroke while filming her latest series.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old dermatologist is best known for\u00a0treating patients with unusual cases<\/span>\u00a0of facial and skin disorders at her clinic Skin Physicians & Surgeons in Upland,\u00a0California<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee said that back in November she was filming Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out when she\u00a0started noticing<\/span>\u00a0something felt off.<\/p>\n

The season 2 trailer for her reality series showed someone in her office calling 911 before an ambulance drives to the medical facility.<\/p>\n

The staff were informed on the severity of the situation as Dr. Lee is shown tearing up in a talking head interview.<\/p>\n

Of the stroke, Dr. Lee told\u00a0People\u00a0magazine: \u2018I notice it right now that I don\u2019t speak exactly the way I used to. You\u2019re really embarrassed to speak because you notice it. It is very stressful to open yourself up. Especially as a surgeon, you always want to show yourself coming from an area of strength.<\/p>\n

Dr. Sandra Lee \u2013 AKA Dr. Pimple Popper \u2013 has revealed that she suffered a terrifying stroke while filming her latest series<\/p>\n

\u2018It happened while I was filming the show. I had what I thought was a hot flash. I got super sweaty and didn\u2019t feel like myself. I just felt very restless. In one leg I kept feeling shooting pains. I noticed that I was having a tough time walking down the stairs.\u2019<\/p>\n

Then the following day she began noticing some even more odd symptoms that led her to seeking medical help.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee explained: \u2018I would hold my hand out, and it would just slowly collapse. I noticed that I had a tough time articulating and just enunciating. I thought, \u201cAm I having a stroke?\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n

Her father, who is also a dermatologist, told her that she needed to go to the emergency room immediately, an MRI\u00a0revealed that she had suffered an ischemic stroke.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Cleveland Clinic, an\u00a0ischemic stroke, which can be fatal, is when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in your brain.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee said of the diagnosis: \u2018It was just a shock. As a physician I couldn\u2019t deny that I had slurred speech, that I was having weakness on one side, but I was like, \u201cWell, this is a dream, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018What essentially happened is I had a part of my brain that died.\u2019<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee explained what led to the stroke.<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018My blood pressure and my\u00a0cholesterol were not under control, and I have a lot of stress in my life, dealing with my patients and the show.<\/p>\n

\u2018I want to think about it as a blessing in disguise. Because it reminds you to take better care of yourself.\u2019<\/p>\n

The TLC star talked honestly about the medical emergency\u2019s long-term effect on her life.<\/p>\n

She said: \u2018I don\u2019t like that I don\u2019t have total control of my left hand or the grip wasn\u2019t as strong. If I feel like I\u2019m not at my best\u2014it\u2019s very scary.\u2019<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee starred on TLC reality series Dr. Pimple Popper from\u00a02018 to 2023 which came after she grew a major following by posting online video content.<\/p>\n

She began uploading videos onto YouTube in 2010 and started doing it more regularly in 2015 when she noticed that clips of her skin extractions were becoming increasingly popular on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Her new series Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out is on Lifetime as the first season aired last year.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lee is married to fellow dermatologist Jeff Rebish as they share two sons together.<\/p>\n
