Donald Trump\u2019s diet soda habit has a surprising explanation \u2013 and it\u2019s not what you might expect<\/strong><\/p>\n

Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0love of diet soda has long been part of his public image. Until now, it\u2019s largely been seen as a simple personal preference. But according to Dr. Mehmet Oz, there may be more behind the president\u2019s go-to drink.<\/p>\n

Speaking on an episode of Triggered with Don Jr., Oz shared Trump\u2019s own reasoning for his choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour dad argues that diet soda is good for him because it kills grass \u2013 if poured on grass \u2013 so, therefore, it must kill cancer cells inside the body,\u201d Oz said, according to\u00a0UNILAD.<\/a><\/p>\n

He went on to describe a recent interaction aboard Air Force One.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we were on Air Force One the other day, and I walk in there because he wants to talk about something, and he\u2019s got an orange soft drink on his desk. He\u2019s got a Fanta on the desk,\u201d Oz said. \u201cAnd I say, \u2018Are you kidding me?\u2019 So he starts to, like, sheepishly grin. He says, \u2018You know, this stuff\u2019s good for me, it kills cancer cells.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Donald Trump\u2019s love for diet soda<\/h2>\n

Oz, who leads the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, added that Trump appeared to apply similar logic to orange soda \u2013 joking that it might be \u201cfreshly squeezed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, OK,\u201d Donald Trump Jr. responded, \u201cbut then maybe he\u2019s onto something. Because I will say this: I know a lot of guys pushing 80 \u2013 not a lot have his level of energy, recall, stamina.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the claims, there is currently no scientific evidence showing that diet soda can kill cancer cells. It also does not offer any meaningful nutritional benefits.<\/p>\n

That said, it can serve a purpose for some people \u2013 particularly as a way to reduce sugar intake or support weight management when used in place of full-sugar drinks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
