The horrifying murders of seven children and their cousin in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Sunday have shocked the nation. Police responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance early on Sunday morning, and what they found was unimaginable.<\/p>\n
Shreveport Corporal Christopher Bordelon said first responders found eight children, seven of whom were children of Shamar Elkins and one being his cousin, dead. The majority of them had been shot in the head while sleeping, while some had been fatally shot while trying to escape.<\/p>\n
The children who were murdered were three boys and five girls, ages 3 to 11, the Caddo Parish Coroner\u2019s Office said. Police had previously given their ages as about 1 to 14.<\/p>\n
Their mothers identified the children as Jayla Elkins, 3; Shayla Elkins, 5; Kayla Pugh, 6; Layla Pugh, 7; Markaydon Pugh, 10; Sariahh Snow, 11; Khedarrion Snow, 6; and Braylon Snow, 5.<\/p>\n
Also wounded in the attack was Shamar\u2019s wife, the Associated Press reported. Moreover, authorities said the other woman, who was injured, is believed to have been Shamar Elkins\u2019 girlfriend.<\/p>\n

\nNow, new horrifying details on what the police found in the house have been revealed. In an interview with People Magazine, Shreveport Corporal Christopher Bordelon revealed the gruesome discovery police made when they entered the rental house on the 300 block of West 79th Street in Shreveport.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s blood and bodies everywhere,\u201d Shreveport Corporal Christopher Bordelon told People. \u201cSome were shot in the bed, some were shot trying to get away.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe he began basically killing kids down on the first floor, and that others tried to escape out a window that was on the second floor that went on top of a garage,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Shamar Elkins worked at UPS. He previously served with the Louisiana Army National Guard from August 2013 to August 2020 as a signal support system specialist and fire support specialist, per the NY Post.<\/p>\n
According to Elkins\u2019 stepfather, speaking with The New York Times, the father of seven had confessed he was drowning in \u201cdark thoughts\u201d weeks before the horrific murders of his seven children and their cousin.<\/p>\n
Elkins had previously hinted at mental-health struggles in another recent Facebook post, where he called for God to \u201cguard\u201d his mind.<\/p>\n

\nChristopher Bordelon further explained that Elkins had taken three of his children from one home to the other before killing them.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe forced them into the car and then brought them to West 79th and actually executed them there,\u201d he continued, explaining that investigators believe that two guns were used in the horrifying mass shooting.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re still working on ballistics,\u201d he told People Magazine. \u201cWe know that he used an assault style pistol. That has been recovered, and there was also a handgun recovered. We are working to determine who he shot with what.\u201d<\/p>\n
