But the country singer and former\u00a0<em>Voice<\/em>\u00a0host, whom Kotb once\u00a0described as \u201cdefinitely datable\u201d\u00a0on the show, shocked everyone in the studio when he shared a rather touching memory he had of Kotb.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ejmbcm5B\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">The conversation got off to a hilarious start when Bush Hager announced, \u201cHoda was in love with you for many years. I think she\u2019s let that go, but she still adores you and I know you adore her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Kotb certainly did not deny it. Shelton largely ignored Bush Hager\u2019s confession as he thanked Kotb for welcoming him on\u00a0<em>Today<\/em>\u00a0all those years ago, until he later added, \u201cIt\u2019s funny, too, that you talked about Hoda saying I was her first love or whatever. I did run into her in Nashville one time, off camera, it had nothing to do with television or anything. And I thought it was going to be our moment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"IWGAhUwr\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">\u201cBut she completely ran away from me. I mean, she ran away from me like totally afraid of me,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Both Kotb and Bush Hager gasped in shock. \u201cWait, wait. What?!\u201d Kotb responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Shelton replied, \u201cYes, remember at the number one party I was like, \u2018Hoda, you\u2019re here!\u2019 And you were like, \u2018I gotta go!\u2019\u201d Kotb then insinuated that she may have been drinking. But she and Bush Hager maintained that she is \u201cnot leaving parties early anymore\u201d once she retires.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"col-body mb-4 border border-solid\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DEkjk6JJncZ\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=12\" width=\"100%\" height=\"1148px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\" data-origwidth=\"100%\" data-origheight=\"1148px\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Bush Hager then got straight to the point by asking him, \u201cWould you have shot your shot? Would you have leaned in and given her a little\u2014 I mean this was before\u00a0Gwen [Stefani], let\u2019s just put that out there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">Shelton and Stefani have been married since 2021. Ever the loyal husband, Shelton responded by warning Bush Hager to \u201cslow your roll a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">\u201cI\u2019m just saying I saw Hoda in Nashville and she ran away from me at a party,\u201d he said as the\u00a0<em>Today\u00a0<\/em>hosts laughed. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m saying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0\">But love was definitely in the air!
