Both Breanna and John made their debuts at the Grand Ole Opry that same week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\"><\/div>\n<p>Somewhere in between the hustle and bustle of\u00a0CMA Fest, John and Breanna found a moment to sit down and sing together. They chose a special song for their performance, covering Randy Travis\u2019\u00a0\u201cI Told You So.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The History Behind \u201cI Told You So\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Randy Travis\u00a0wrote \u201cI Told You So\u201d himself. He released the song as a single in 1988, and it reached the #1 spot on the\u00a0<em>Hot Country Songs<\/em>\u00a0chart.<\/p>\n<p>21 years later, in 2009,\u00a0<em>Idol<\/em>\u00a0winner (and eventual judge)\u00a0Carrie Underwood\u00a0covered \u201cI Told You So\u201d for her album\u00a0<em>Carnival Ride<\/em>. That same year, she and Travis released a duet version of the song, and it was a crossover success. Carrie and Randy delivered their first joint performance of the song during the show\u2019s Grand Ole Opry week in 2009.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Several contestants have also performed \u201cI Told You So\u201d on the show, including Maddie Poppe, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and most recently, John Foster.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since Carrie was a judge on\u00a0<em>Idol<\/em>\u2018s 23rd Season, John delivered part of his performance directly to her. Breanna shared a clip of their performance on social media, writing:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<em>Singing with\u00a0@officialjohnfoster Let us know how it sounds to you\u2026 Should we finish the rest?<\/em>\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The clip opens with Breanna singing angelically while John plays guitar by her side. Then John jumps in for his verse, delivering each lyric with sincere tenderness and care.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Their video cuts off right before they reach the song\u2019s iconic chorus.<\/strong>\u00a0As Breanna questioned in her caption, she wondered if fans would like to hear them sing the whole track.<\/p>\n<p>Breanna\u2019s followers are entirely on board with that idea, and they begged her and John to sing \u201cI Told You So\u201d in its entirety.
