The Romantic Reason Michael Bubl\u00e9 Learned to Speak Spanish Over 15 Years Ago<\/p>\n

Michael Bubl\u00e9 is very Canadian. Heck, he installed an ice rink in the basement of his British Columbia home. The Voice Coach is very proud of his nationality but he\u2019s also, of course, an international superstar who\u2019s performed all over the world. And someone special he met on tour many years ago is the reason Bubl\u00e9 speaks Spanish so well today.<\/p>\n

Bubl\u00e9 met his wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, at an after-party following one of his concerts in 2008. \u201cI was doing a show in Buenos Aires, I saw her across a room when my security were throwing me in a van,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 told Ireland\u2019s RT\u00c9 One in 2012. \u201cI was actually really bummed \u2026 My grandfather was with me and I said, \u2018You know, grandpa, that\u2019s the most beautiful woman I\u2019ve ever seen and I\u2019m never going to see her again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA few hours later it just happened that she\u2019d been invited to the same party that I was at,\u201d he continued. \u201cShe couldn\u2019t speak English, I couldn\u2019t speak Spanish. She walked in with this boy that honestly was incredibly good-looking and I felt like a turd.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a few cocktails, Bubl\u00e9 eventually struck up a conversation with the good-looking guy, who spoke English, to figure out if they were dating. Bubl\u00e9 told\u00a0RT\u00c9\u00a0<\/em>One<\/em>\u00a0that the man clarified that he and Lopilato were just friends and the two finally connected.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of their relationship, Bubl\u00e9 and Lopilato relied on technology and\u00a0bilingual friends\u00a0to communicate. \u201cWe would use a computer to translate and speak to each other,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 told\u00a0Access Hollywood<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bubl\u00e9 and Lopilato both went on to study each other\u2019s language and now the couple, who share four children together, can communicate in both English and Spanish.<\/p>\n

Bubl\u00e9 is not a native Spanish speaker, but the singer speaks the language proficiently. In fact, Bubl\u00e9 has learned to speak Spanish so well, he uses it when he argues with his wife in public or in front of friends. \u201cTwo languages are very handy,\u201d he shared with\u00a0The Sunday Times<\/em>\u00a0in 2013.<\/p>\n

Bubl\u00e9 often shares\u00a0posts in Spanish\u00a0on social media. He also often uses the language\u00a0on the street with fans\u00a0and\u00a0in his career. For example, when he served as a guest judge on\u00a0America\u2019s Got Talent<\/em>\u00a0in 2015, he spoke to Colombian contestant Daniella Mass\u2019\u00a0mother in the crowd: \u201cSu bebe es muy, muy linda. Ella tiene buena, buena voz,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 told the proud mom, which translates to \u201cYour baby is very, very cute. When did Michael Bubl\u00e9 learn to speak Spanish?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Bubl\u00e9 started learning Spanish after he met his wife in 2008. \u201cWhen I first met her, I didn\u2019t speak one word of Spanish. She didn\u2019t speak any English,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 told\u00a0Access Hollywood<\/em>\u00a0about when they first met over 15 years ago.<\/p>\n

Just a few years later, Bubl\u00e9 was speaking Spanish with ease and even picked up a few curse words along the way. In an\u00a0interview with Fresh 102.7\u00a0in 2013, Bubl\u00e9 revealed his favorite Spanish phrase Lopilato has taught him. \u201cThe best is \u2018cerr\u00e1 el culo\u2019 \u2026 It basically means \u2018shut your a**.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Do Michael Bubl\u00e9\u2019s kids speak Spanish?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

They sure do. Bubl\u00e9 and Lopilato speak both English and Spanish with their four children: Noah, 11; Elias, 8; Vida, 6; and Cielo, 2.<\/p>\n

\u201c[My wife] refused to speak English with our kids and what a gift because they speak perfect Spanish,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 told\u00a0Access Hollywood,<\/em>\u00a0adding that they\u2019ll even correct him on his grammar from time to time.<\/p>\n

Michael Bubl\u00e9 spoke Spanish on\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0Season 26<\/h2>\n

Once again, Bubl\u00e9 showed off his Spanish skills on the very first episode of\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0Season 26.\u00a0Within seconds of 18-year-old\u00a0Kiara Vega\u2019s performance of \u201cAmor Eterno\u201d\u00a0during her Blind Audition, the rookie Coach spun his chair around and persuaded the Artist to join his team.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeriously, it\u2019s such a pleasure for me whenever I hear your voice \u2026 I want to make your life better,\u201d Bubl\u00e9 said to Vega in Spanish, prompting fellow\u00a0Coach Reba McEntire\u00a0to hilariously chime in. \u201cOK, cut it out! \u2026 Is this fair?\u201d<\/p>\n
