Tom Petty\u2019s final performance took place on September 25, 2017 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The performance would occur just one week before Petty passed away on October 2, 2017. Nobody thought it would be his last, including Petty himself.<\/p>\n

The set was meant to be the last show of his final major tour. And, naturally, the last song Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers played before walking off the stage for good was the classic \u201cAmerican Girl\u201d. It would be the final time the group would make music together.<\/p>\n
