Pat Green, who\u00a0lost his brother, sister-in-law, and two nephews in the flood, hosted a benefit that raised\u00a0over a million dollars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe King of Country,\u201d\u00a0George Strait, hosted an intimate benefit show that raised $6.25 million for relief efforts. The lineup featured acts such as\u00a0Riley Green,\u00a0Randy Houser, and\u00a0Jamey Johnson, and Garth Brooks\u00a0made a surprise appearance.<\/p>\n

Texas natives\u00a0Miranda Lambert\u00a0and\u00a0Parker McCollum\u00a0hosted their \u201cBand Together Texas\u201d benefit concert on Sunday (August 17). In addition to Lambert and McCollum, the lineup included\u00a0Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lukas Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Ryan Bingham, and more.<\/p>\n

Kelly Clarkson\u00a0was initially slated to perform during the benefit. Sadly, she made the decision\u00a0to drop out\u00a0following the\u00a0death of her ex-husband\u00a0and the father of her children, Brandon Blackstock.<\/p>\n

Cody Johnson Leaves Everyone In Awe After Singing \u201cHow Great Thou Art\u201d During \u201cBand Together Texas\u201d<\/h2>\n

One of the most powerful moments during the \u201cBand Together Texas\u201d show came when Cody Johnson took to the stage. The singer addressed the packed crowd at Austin\u2019s Moody Center, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cI just know that, in hard times and in good times, I know that God has a plan.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johnson shared he was talking to a friend on the phone earlier that day about some problems in the friend\u2019s life. He recalled telling him:<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes God\u2019s plan for us, we think it sucks, but it\u2019s still God\u2019s plan. As long as we keep the faith in him, there\u2019s a lot of comfort, and there\u2019s a lot of peace, and there\u2019s a lot of understanding that we don\u2019t understand, that he has and we don\u2019t. None of us in this room are perfect, but there\u2019s nothing wrong with giving it to Him and letting Him mend it, and letting Him fix it and show you where the next chapter is.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Johnson explained that\u2019s why he chose to perform the hymn \u201cHow Great Thou Art\u201d at the \u201cBand Together Texas\u201d concert that day. He delivered a stripped-back performance of the song, with his strong voice soaring through the arena.<\/p>\n

The crowd was left in awe of Johnson\u2019s chill-inducing performance. They threw their hands in the air in worship as he sang.<\/p>\n
