Kane Brown drew heated criticism \u2014 from both sides of the political aisle \u2014 after sharing a tribute to the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk on social media on Wednesday (Sept. 10).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The comments against him got so aggressive, he says it\u2019ll be a while before he posts again.<\/p>\n

Brown shared screenshots of some of the messages he received, both in response to his words about Kirk\u2019s death and in response to a tribute Brown shared about a high school mass shooting in Colorado, which took place the same day that Kirk was fatally shot during a speaking event at a Utah university.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy didn\u2019t you post about the Democratic representatives being murdered?!!!!\u201d one presumably left-leaning fan replied.<\/p>\n

That commenter is presumably referring to the June 2025 murders of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, who were fatally shot in their home.<\/p>\n

But another fan was angry for a reason that fell on the opposite end of the political spectrum: They were upset that Brown expressed any form of empathy to a Democratic perspective at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cStand up don\u2019t be silent and bow down to those liberal POS that are joyful [a] father died!!! You have a huge platform use it!\u201d that fan told him.<\/p>\n

Another comment affected Brown so strongly that he responded.<\/p>\n

That person said that, by paying tribute to Kirk, Brown had \u201coffended [his] ancestors\u201d as a Black man.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a racist bigot who didn\u2019t believe in gun regulations,\u201d the fan said, referring to Kirk.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been called a n\u2014-r my whole life. I don\u2019t want those people dead,\u201d Brown shot back.<\/p>\n

It was during this last comment that Brown told his fans, \u201cMy last post for a while, be safe guys and love one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Did Charlie Kirk Die?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday (Sept. 10) during an event at Utah Valley University. He was shot in the neck and hospitalized in critical condition before he died.<\/p>\n

Kirk was a conservative commentator and the founder of Turning Point USA. He was widely mourned in the U.S. and beyond, and U.S. president Donald Trump shared a statement in tribute to him.<\/p>\n

As of Thursday morning (Sept. 11), a wide-scale manhunt is underway for the shooter who killed Kirk, according to\u00a0CNN. Multiple \u201cpersons of interests\u201d in the case have been questioned and released.<\/p>\n

What Did Kane Brown Say About Charlie Kirk?<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the posts and replies on Brown\u2019s social media, he seems to have deleted the original tribute, but he did share a snippet of an Instagram Live video to his permanent feed.<\/p>\n

In the video, Brown was visibly upset.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been crying for two hours,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day dude, I just want everybody to love each other\u2026left side, right side, Black, white, different language speaking, different country living, just love each other. If you see somebody down, just pick \u2019em up,\u201d he said elsewhere in the video.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m just getting mad,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t talk about this s\u2013t. I don\u2019t do politics. That\u2019s not for me. I just want y\u2019all to love each other, bro. It\u2019s really not that hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
