Brandon Lake Experienced \u201cThe Most Holy Moment\u201d Leading Worship At The Charlie Kirk Memorial Service<\/h2>\n

\u201cTurn us back to You, O\u00a0Lord, and we will be\u00a0restored; Renew our days as of old.\u201d<\/em>
\n\u2013 Lamentations 5:21<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what\u2019s happening right now, but it is the closest thing to \u2014 if not, absolute \u2014 revival,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Brandon Lake in a powerful video statement he shared to social media on September 24.<\/p>\n

In the video, Brandon is joined by his wife, speaking just a few days after leading worship with several prominent Christian artists at the memorial service for Charlie Kirk, which was held on September 21 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.<\/p>\n

There, over 90,000 people, including President Donald Trump, heard the Gospel message and were engaged in worship of Jesus, which was a core part of Charlie\u2019s intent for the organization he founded, Turning Point USA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen so many videos, posting that they\u2019ve just found Jesus, that they\u2019ve given their life to Jesus,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Brandon said.<\/p>\n

Chiming in, Brittany added,\u00a0\u201cOr have come back after a long time away.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Continuing, Brandon said,\u00a0\u201cReal quick, if you\u2019ve somehow stumbled upon my page, I love Jesus, I make Jesus music. I just want to say, \u2018Welcome to the family of God.\u2019 You\u2019ve made the best decision you could ever make in your life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Noting that\u00a0\u201cthere\u2019s so many things\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he wants to say, Brandon stated,\u00a0\u201cI feel this fire.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Brandon Lake Speaks On The Worship Service At Charlie Kirk\u2019s Memorial Service<\/h2>\n

Pivoting to how he wound up leading a 2-hour worship set with Phil Wickham, Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe Carnes, and Elevation Worship\u2019s Tiffany Hudson at the Charlie Kirk memorial service, Brandon said,\u00a0\u201cBrittany and I got this invitation to go lead worship at Charlie Kirk\u2019s funeral. I love that Brittany\u2019s immediate response was, \u2018Yes, we are doing this.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He expressed how he was unsure what\u00a0\u201cthis was going to say to the world,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0but came to an important realization, saying,\u00a0\u201cI realized I don\u2019t need to be afraid about what this looks like because, for me, and for us, this wasn\u2019t a political, this was not me saying I\u2019m siding with anyone, other than we are going to go minister to a widow who just lost her husband, and who was a man of faith, and we wanted to honor their family.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Recalling Erika Kirk\u2019s request for Brandon to be involved in the memorial service for Charlie, he said that Erika expressed her hope for there\u00a0\u201cto be worship to set the tone\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and to\u00a0\u201clead the way\u201d<\/em>\u00a0as they celebrated her husband\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

He then alluded to Genesis 50:20, saying,\u00a0\u201cWhat the enemy intends for evil, God intends for good.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This, he said, is contributing to the feeling of revival he is experiencing, saying,\u00a0\u201cWe are watching that play out right now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking to those who have recently professed their faith in Jesus, Brandon said,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m proud of all of you that have decided to follow Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Thinking back on the worship service he led, he recalled that after they sang his song \u201cGratitude,\u201d they then sang \u201cAgnus Dei,\u201d which he said was followed by\u00a0\u201cthe most holy moment \u2014 I have goosebumps \u2014 that I have ever experienced in worship.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

There, for nine minutes, no one sang a word, but everyone was prayerfully engaged.<\/p>\n

Now, Brandon is preparing for tour and is asking himself,\u00a0\u201cHow do we pour gas on the fire of revival?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Further, he and Brittany both tearfully shared how the decision to participate in the memorial service was a challenging one, as it meant not participating in another opportunity. Still, there was a confidence they had that this was the right thing to do, and Brittany expressed how, for her, staying home with their children so that Brandon can lead worship is part of their ministry as a married team.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just really amazing how God always, whenever we have to make a really hard decision, and we wish we could be everywhere and do everything \u2026 God always shows us why,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Brittany said.<\/p>\n

Affirming this, Brandon said with a smile,\u00a0\u201cThat\u2019s the thing, God is going to use, I mean, almost every imperfect way \u2014 I\u2019m imperfect, I present the Gospel all the time, my life isn\u2019t perfect \u2014 but God uses broken and imperfect people to carry His message and His Gospel.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Continuing, Brandon said,\u00a0\u201cY\u2019all, I\u2019ve been praying for revival my whole life, and never in a million years, thought that He would bring about revival in this way. I always thought that it would happen in the four walls of a church, and the church is happening \u2014 maybe even moreso outside of the four walls that you attend on Sunday.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He added,\u00a0\u201cKnow that you can have church anywhere you are if you carry the Spirit of God, man, you are the church. Rise to the occasion, the invitation, and let\u2019s do everything that we can to continue to see people\u2019s lives changed, transformed, and give the gift of Heaven and the friendship of Jesus<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Concluding his remarks, Brandon said,\u00a0\u201cThere\u2019s so much I could say, but we are just blown away at God\u2019s kindness and what\u2019s He\u2019s doing, and it\u2019s only just the start. Let\u2019s go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

What Is Revival?<\/h2>\n

Revival, in the Christian sense, is a moment in the world in which there is a renewed interest in faith in Jesus. It\u2019s a moment in which the invisible church, which is the believers\u2019 hope and faith in Christ, is suddenly very visible.<\/p>\n

Historically, there have been three periods of revival in America, with the First Great Awakening in the 1730s through the 1760s, the Second Great Awakening in the 1790s through the 1840s, and the Third Great Awakening beginning around 1857 and going through the early 1900s.<\/p>\n

\"Brandon<\/p>\n

The rise of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Jesus Movement in the 1960s have sometimes been seen as indicative of a Fourth Great Awakening.<\/p>\n

Regardless, these moments were marked by an interest in studying God\u2019s Word, with many professing faith in Christ.<\/p>\n

Pastor Kevin DeYoung, of Christ Covenant Church in North Carolina, wrote on the marks of \u201ctrue revival,\u201d outlining five tenets of a revival in light of the Biblical account in 2 Kings of King Josiah seeking after the Lord.<\/p>\n

Those five tenets are, according to DeYoung, as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • A rediscovery of the word of God;<\/li>\n
  • A restored sense of the fear of God;<\/li>\n
  • A return to God through confession and repentance;<\/li>\n
  • A renewed spiritual commitment and accountability; and<\/li>\n
  • A reformation of true piety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
