New Jersey residents ripped the Marlboro Board of Education during a raucous, six-hour meeting this week, with many pushing the board to enact its existing civility policy after a vile group chat targeting a conservative female member came to light.<\/p>\n

More than 100 people turned out for the Tuesday meeting in the leafy, liberal enclave,\u00a0which was rocked after\u00a0Facebook posts revealed five men \u2014 allegedly including board Vice President Chad Hyett and Mitesh Gandhi, the husband of a sitting board member \u2014 were involved in a group chat labeled, \u201cThisBitchNeedstoDie.\u201d<\/p>\n

The messages \u2014 which gained nationwide attention after being exposed by The Post, and outraged US Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx) \u2014 targeted MAGA-loving mom of three Danielle Bellomo and included the remark: \u201cBellomo must be cold \u2014 her nips could cut glass right n\u201d.<\/p>\n

The messages were revealed after someone snapped a photo of board candidate Scott Semaya\u2019s phone as he allegedly typed the \u201cnips\u201d text, and allegedly captured on camera while Semaya\u2019s fingers typed an \u201co.\u201d Semaya quickly dropped out of the race for the board.<\/p>\n

\u201cFive men ganging up on a woman? That\u2019s pathetic, in my mind. It made me sick to my stomach. It\u2019s embarrassing. This is just 100 percent wrong. No apologies? What are we doing? Do the right thing,\u201d Doug Moore, whose daughter is in kindergarten, told the board Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are not people who belong around children,\u201d resident Eugene Genin said.<\/p>\n

Resident Mark Chesler earned applause when he questioned if the board members \u201chave the right set of morals and values to be entrusted with the responsibility this board holds.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou continue to denigrate each other at every turn, and you do it with a twisted sense of pride,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cYou aren\u2019t concerned about the children, you are concerned about your personal agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Hyett, Gandhi and Semaya,\u00a0former board candidate Nirav Kadakia\u00a0and Lenny Thor were identified as taking part in the chat \u2014 which caught the attention of Cruz after The Post reported the controversy last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is wrong. And evil,\u201d\u00a0Cruz thundered on X.<\/p>\n

After the public comments, the board ducked into executive session, from which Bellomo, 38, recused herself but Hyett and Gandhi didn\u2019t, she said. The body later issued a statement calling the group chat \u201coffensive.\u201d<\/p>\n

A vote to boot Hyett and Board President Brian Cohen, who is not believed to have participated in the chat, failed.<\/p>\n

Bellomo and others questioned why the board hasn\u2019t enacted\u00a0its civility policy, which says the district will not tolerate threats against board members and allows for those who engage in disruptive behavior to be banned.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did not take any action to protect me and they did not take any action to speak out against the individuals who are involved, directly or indirectly,\u201d she said of the superintendent and board president.<\/p>\n

The Marlboro police department said Wednesday the text messages are under \u201cactive\u201d investigation.<\/p>\n

Bellomo told The Post afterwards that it was \u201cpowerful\u201d to see that support \u2014 but added the public furor over the hateful messages has been difficult for her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy kids are having a really hard time with this,\u201d she said<\/p>\n

She said she\u2019s faced threats for months, but declined to go into details.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are other communications out there with, in my opinion, just extremely terrifying messages,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s definitely additional information that police are in possession of.\u201d<\/p>\n
