It\u2019s a test of grit, heartbreak, and pure heart under the neon lights of America\u2019s backroads.  Twelve hopeful musicians began this journey chasing a dream: performing their original songs for live audiences in a new city every week. But as the bus rolled into its next stop, the pressure hit like a freight train. Under the hot glow of stage lights, every note, every lyric, every stumble mattered \u2014 because the crowd wasn\u2019t just listening, they were voting in real time.  Halfway through the night, one performance changed everything. A quiet underdog \u2014 the one most fans barely noticed in Episode 1 \u2014 stepped up with a song so raw and haunting that the entire crowd stood before the final chorus ended. Twelve aspiring musicians piled onto a tour bus and took off on a journey that has the ability to change the course of the career.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Urban and Blake Shelton have partnered with\u00a0<em>Yellowstone\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0Taylor Sheridan to create the docuseries-style competition. Each week, the musicians must perform original music for a new live audience in a different city. The group was split in half for a two night event. Different from the first week, each musician was asked to perform two songs: one original and one cover.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><\/div>\n<p>Prior to taking the stage at The Factory in Deep Ellum, executive producer Taylor Sheridan imparted some wisdom on the contestants. He reminded them to live in the moment, \u201cforget that this is a competition,\u201d and make the most of the time they have on stage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Britnee Kellogg<\/strong>\u00a0opened the show with a cover of Miranda Lambert\u2019s \u201cTin Man,\u201d which Urban commended as a good song choice. She followed that with an original tune, \u201cBack Of My Mind,\u201d dedicated to her ex-husband\u2019s new flame.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h22vFa8uYog\" width=\"350\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-origwidth=\"350\" data-origheight=\"235\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Up next,\u00a0<strong>Adam Sanders<\/strong>\u00a0performed a song he wrote for Cole Swindell titled \u201cAin\u2019t Worth The Whiskey.\u201d The single went number-one on the US Country Airplay Chart in 2015 and, as Sanders says, \u201cchanged his life forever.\u201d Next, he showcased a brand-new original song, \u201cCat in a Hit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ijmdrl2ajAI\" width=\"350\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-origwidth=\"350\" data-origheight=\"235\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cody Hibbard<\/strong>\u00a0first covered the 2004 hit \u201cLetters From Home\u201d by John Michael Montgomery. Then, he let his personal style shine through his original song \u201cDying Breed,\u201d which was inspired by the work ethic he developed by growing up on a farm.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kq-h2qaUew8\" width=\"350\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-origwidth=\"350\" data-origheight=\"235\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>New mom\u00a0<strong>Jenny Tolman<\/strong>\u00a0brought the energy with her cover of The Chicks\u2019 \u201cGoodbye Earl.\u201d While on stage, she suffered a slight wardrobe malfunction which left her rattled.
