But the second they began to sing the Willie Nelson classic, the room changed. Laughter turned to quiet smiles, and then to something deeper. Their voices \u2014 warm, rough, and perfectly in sync \u2014 carried more than melody. They carried stories.  These weren\u2019t professional country singers. They were men and women who\u2019d stood in sand and snow, who\u2019d missed birthdays and holidays, who knew what \u201chome\u201d really meant.
