As President Donald Trump gently placed the medallion around George Strait\u2019s neck, the room \u2014 filled with staff, reporters, and fellow honorees \u2014 went completely still. Strait\u2019s chin trembled just slightly, his eyes glossy but determined to stay composed.  Then, in a low voice meant for one person \u2014 but heard by everyone \u2014 he whispered:  \ud83d\udc49 \u201cI never thought I\u2019d live to receive this. Thank you.\u201d  Trump paused, looked him straight in the eyes, and answered with a tone that sounded far softer than usual:  \ud83d\udc49 \u201cAmerica didn\u2019t just listen to you\u2026 we lived through you. This was long overdue.\u201d  A few people inhaled sharply. Someone in the back wiped their face.  No one moved.  Witnesses say the moment felt less like ceremony and more like history \u2014 two eras of America shaking hands.  And now, long before the televised broadcast, fans are already saying the same thing:  \u2b50 \u201cWe just witnessed the most meaningful Kennedy Center moment in decades.\u201d.. WATCH VIDEO BELOW:"},"content":{"rendered":"<article id=\"post-44910\" class=\"post-44910 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-uncatsaasdq\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2 id=\"h-2025-kennedy-center-honorees-met-at-the-white-house-ahead-of-the-ceremony\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">2025 Kennedy Center Honorees Met At The White House Ahead Of The Ceremony<\/h2>\n<p>While the Kennedy Center Honors will not be broadcast until December 23, the medals were presented to the 2025 honorees a few weeks beforehand.<\/p>\n<p>Meeting in the Oval Office of the White House on Saturday, December 6,\u00a0President Donald Trump, who is\u00a0chairman of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, presented the medals to the honorees, describing them as\u00a0<em>\u201ctruly exceptional.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\"><\/div>\n<p>Expressing that he was pleased to invite the 2025 Kennedy Center Honorees to the Oval Office, Trump said,\u00a0<em>\u201cThis is a group of icons whose work and accomplishments have inspired, uplifted, and unified millions and millions of Americans.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Further, he stated,\u00a0<em>\u201cThis is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center Honorees ever assembled.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><\/div>\n<p>The 48th class of honorees include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Country artist\u00a0George Strait<\/li>\n<li>Stage actor Michael Crawford<\/li>\n<li>Film actor Sylvester Stallone<\/li>\n<li>Disco singer Gloria Gaynor<\/li>\n<li>Rock band KISS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of the honorees, Trump said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cWe can hardly imagine the country music phenomena without its \u2018King of Country,\u2019 or the American disco without its \u2018First Lady,\u2019 or Broadway without its \u2018Phantom,\u2019 or Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll without its hottest band in the world, or Hollywood without one of its greatest visionaries.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump added,\u00a0<em>\u201cEach of you has made an indelible mark on American life, and, together, you have defined entire genres and set new standards for the performing arts.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the American people, Trump then thanked all of the honorees.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-trump-presents-george-strait-with-his-kennedy-center-medal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trump Presents George Strait With His Kennedy Center Medal<\/h2>\n<p><em>\u201cWe have country music legend\u00a0George Strait,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Trump, following a brief teleprompter malfunction.<\/p>\n<p>Strait, who is known as the \u201cKing of Country,\u201d wore his signature cowboy hat, but with a formal suit and a bowtie.<\/p>\n<p>Stepping toward the president, he motioned to take off his hat, but Trump stopped him as he began to place the medal on him, saying,\u00a0<em>\u201cIf you want leave that on, you can. I think we can get it through.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Instead, Strait went ahead and removed his hat, compelling Trump to remark,\u00a0<em>\u201cOh, he\u2019s got good hair.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Strait replied,<em>\u00a0\u201cA little bit. I\u2019ve still got a little bit.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Trump, who has a famous head of hair himself, added,\u00a0<em>\u201cI\u2019m surprised. We\u2019re going to make it something really special.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Stating that the building is<em>\u00a0\u201ctired\u201d\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>\u201chas been mistreated,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump compared it to the White House, adding,\u00a0<em>\u201cWe\u2019re bringing it back to a level that I don\u2019t think any place in the country will see.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He said there\u2019s new marble and improved acoustics, with Trump stating,<em>\u00a0\u201cWhen you have great sound, you take advantage of it, and the Kennedy Center has great sound.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Back on February 12, Trump was\u00a0unanimously elected\u00a0chair of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees after he dismissed Biden\u2019s appointees and had several officials terminated.<\/p>\n<p>Among those he appointed to the board are U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and Second Lady Usha Vance, as well as\u00a0Lee Greenwood\u00a0and Fox News host Laura Ingraham.<\/p>\n<p>HHS Secretary\u00a0Robert F.
