Bruce Springsteen\u00a0is speaking out against the political violence in Minneapolis through song.<\/p>\n

The musician, 76, released \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d a reference to the ongoing protests against ICE and a testament to the city\u2019s resilience, on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Springsteen\u2019s new song comes amid President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s sweeping deportation campaign in Minneapolis, which has resulted in weeks of civil unrest and the killings of\u00a0Renee Good\u00a0and\u00a0Alex Pretti\u00a0by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.<\/p>\n

Springsteen announced the song in a\u00a0reel on Instagram, including the song\u2019s cover: a black and white photo of a sea of protest signs, all reading \u201cICE OUT.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. Throughout the single, the Boss sings of \u201ca city aflame [that] fought fire and ice\u201d and references the smoke, rubber bullets and guns that have since overtaken the city\u2019s streets. Springsteen calls ICE \u201cKing Trump\u2019s private army from the DHS\u201d and calls into question the organization\u2019s expressed mission to \u201cenforce the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice \/ Singing through the bloody mist \/ We\u2019ll take our stand for this land \/ And the stranger in our midst,\u201d Springsteen sings in the chorus. \u201cHere in our home they killed and roamed \/ In the winter of \u201926 \/ We\u2019ll remember the names of those who died \/ On the streets of Minneapolis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springsteen also makes reference to Pretti,\u00a0the ICU nurse who was fatally shot by ICE\u00a0on Saturday, Jan. 24 and whose killing has become a flashpoint of anger and protest since.<\/p>\n
