<\/p>\nSam Asghari\u00a0is sharing his take on\u00a0Britney Spears\u2019 recent arrest.<\/p>\n
The model and fitness trainer, 32, was asked about his ex-wife\u2019s arrest during an interview with\u00a0Fox News\u00a0on Friday, March 6, and said that people make mistakes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that,\u201d Tehran-born Asghari said, adding that his attention has been primarily on the\u00a0ongoing Iran war.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI think that everyone deserves privacy. And I hope the press has learned from the past, that they give her the privacy that she needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cToxic\u201d singer, 44, was\u00a0arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol (DUI)\u00a0in Ventura, Calif.\u00a0on the evening of March 4. She was\u00a0released back home\u00a0early on the morning the following day.<\/p>\n
According to a press release issued by California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Ryan Ayers on Thursday,\u00a0Spears\u2019 black BMW 430i \u201cwas reported to the CHP\u2019s Ventura Communications Center for driving erratically at a high rate of speed\u201d and pulled over.<\/p>\n
After she was pulled over, Spears showed signs of \u201cimpairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests\u201d before she was arrested for what Ayers said appeared to be \u201cdriving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol\u201d and booked.<\/p>\n
The CHP said the incident was still under investigation and that chemical test results are pending.<\/p>\n

A representative for Spears\u00a0told PEOPLE in a statement\u00a0that the arrest was \u201can unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life,\u201d said the rep. \u201cHopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHer boys are going to be spending time with her,\u201d they added. \u201cHer loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.\u201d<\/p>\n
Spears and Asghari began dating in 2016 and\u00a0tied the knot\u00a0in June 2022\u00a0before\u00a0they separated\u00a0in July 2023. A judge with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County\u00a0signed off on their divorce\u00a0in May 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged,\u201d a source told PEOPLE at the time. \u201cBritney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n
Months after their split,\u00a0Asghari told PEOPLE\u00a0he considered his time with Spears \u201ca blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on,\u201d he said in March 2024. \u201cI\u2019ve always hated people leaving a certain relationship \u2014 and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] \u2014 so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other.<\/p>\n Added Asghari, \u201cThat\u2019s something I\u2019m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that\u2019s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly after Spears was released from her arrest,\u00a0a source told PEOPLE\u00a0she wants \u201cnothing more than being around friends.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe lives a very lonely life and it\u2019s not helping her emotionally.
