A baby girl is on the way!

Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter, Emmy Russell, reveals she is expecting her first child with partner, Tyler Ward. She opened up about the recent life-changing news while sitting down as a guest on a live episode of the Got It From My Momma Podcast with her mom, Patsy Russell.

At the very top of the episode, hosted in front of a live audience, the soon-to-be 26-year-old proudly announced that she will be bringing a baby girl into the family.

“Y’all, me and Tyler [Ward] are expecting a baby girl,” she shared as Ward ran on stage to rub her belly and give her a tight hug.

Russell went on to express her enthusiasm for the major update, while also noting that it’s been quite a busy last few months as she found out about her pregnancy not long after concluding her time as a finalist on American Idol.

“So I’m so excited…right out of ‘American Idol,’ I didn’t know. So that’s kind of been the journey,” she added.

Tyler Ward launched his career when he began posting covers and original songs to YouTube in 2010, which led him to appearing on several tours over the years and performing with major musical acts various genres. Along the way, he co-founded his current Nashville venture, Song House, an organization dedicated to bringing songwriters and creators together and acting as a “haven” where they can collaborate, share their talents and connect with like-minded individuals.

Meanwhile, Emmy Russell gained recognition for her talent at the start of the year when she won over the American Idol judges with a heartfelt performance of her original song, “Skinny.” During the audition she also revealed that music runs deep in her blood as her grandmother is the country icon, Loretta Lynn. She made it all the way to the Top 5 in the Season 22 before being eliminated, allowing her to continuing growing her career outside of the show.

Not much is known about Russell and Ward’s relationship as it seems they have mostly kept their private lives out of the public eye. However, in June, the pair seemed to have hard-launched their connection when they shared a collaborative post to Instagram featuring a few mirror selfies together.

The caption read, “Classified. For now…” the singer-songwriter captioned the post, which was set to Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good.”

A few months earlier, Ward released a video showcasing what he deemed to be “his first love song in a long time” and tagged the songstress. Their most recent post together was featured on Ward’s Instagram page and looks back on the moment they met Kamala Harris and her husband when Russell was invited to perform at the White House.

“It was surreal. Kamala was very sweet. You might be asking, how in the world did this happen?? Because @emmyroserussell is a superstar and was personally invited to perform. And me? Well…I’m just her arm candy 😂,” he wrote.

Emmy Russell has continued to carry down the legacy of her grandmother by performing and creating music that is authentic to her. She has yet to share what her career will look like while growing her family, but the podcast’s host Jennifer Vickery Smith, made sure to encourage the emerging singer/songwriter to keep making music, despite any challenges she might face as a first-time mom.
