Carrie Underwood Biography

Carrie Marie Underwood was born on March 10, 1983, to Steve Underwood, a paper mill worker, and Carole Underwood, an elementary school teacher. She was raised in the small town of Checotah, Oklahoma, and often performed at her local church and various local events, including the Robbins Memorial Talent Show where she wowed onlookers with her incredible vocal abilities. After attending Checotah High School where she was an honor society member and softball player, she went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in mass communication with an emphasis in journalism from Northeastern State University. She rose to fame on the fourth season of American Idol. She won American Idol Season four in 2005 and began her fast track to superstardom.

Carrie Underwood – Some Hearts

After signing with Arista Nashville of Sony Nashville, Underwood released her debut album, Some Hearts, on November 15, 2005. Underwood’s sophomore album, Carnival Ride, followed in 2007. She continued to release hit after hit, including country songs such as “Good Girl,” “Two Black Cadillacs,” “Love Wins,” “Blown Away,” “Church Bells,” and more. She has collaborated with artists such as Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Sam Hunt, Randy Travis, and Miranda Lambert.

Carrie Underwood has eight GRAMMY Awards. The platinum-selling artist is a 16-time ACM Awards winner, seven-time CMA Awards winner, 17-time American Music Awards winner, and a 25-time CMT Music Awards winner. She has sold more than 66 million albums worldwide and has 28 No.1 singles to her name (Underwood wrote 14 of them).

The certified platinum star made waves with her Christmas album, My Gift, in 2020. Her son Isaiah provided vocals on the song “Little Drummer Boy.” She hosted a Christmas special on HBO Max to celebrate the release. In 2021, she released a special edition of My Gift with three additional tracks.

In the fall of 2022, the country artist launched her massive Denim & Rhinestones Tour in support of her ninth studio album. The project includes “Ghost Story” and the fan-favorite single, “Hate My Heart.”  The official music video for “Hate My Heart” finds Underwood acting out the role of a heartbroken woman. Underwood performed the song at the 2022 CMA Awards where she was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year for “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean.

Carrie Underwood Personal Life

On July 10, 2010, Carrie Underwood wed her husband, hockey player Mike Fisher, at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia. Mike Fisher, who played in the NHL for 18 seasons, including several seasons with the Nashville Predators, met the singer at a backstage meet and greet at one of her concerts. Carrie Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher have two sons. Their first child, Isaiah Michael Fisher, was born on February 27, 2015. Their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, arrived on January 21, 2019.

Aside from music, Carrie Underwood has made a name for herself via her love for fitness. She previously launched a fitness clothing line, Calia by Carrie Underwood, at Dick’s Sporting Goods. She also has a workout app called Fit52. Carrie Underwood documented her fitness journey in her lifestyle book, Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life. Throughout her career, the artist has scored endorsement deals with brands such as Almay, Olay, Bodyarmor, and more.

In 2017, after co-hosting the CMA Awards with Paisley, the singer suffered a nasty fall outside her Nashille-area home. Carrie sustained several injuries including a broken wrist. Her husband was not home at the time. Following her recovery, Carrie Underwood returned with the power anthem, “Cry Pretty,” via her new record label, Capitol Records Nashville. Carrie Underwood won the Video of the Year Award at the 2019 CMT Music Awards. The song is also the title track of her sixth studio album. The album reached number one on the charts.
